Metro Parks’ food program teaches kids healthy habits
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — In an orderly manner, little ones at the Kirkpatrick Community Heart are discovering the fundamental principles of meal prepping.
Classes deal with almost everything from hygiene to safe and sound knife managing practices.
“We want to equip youngsters with various versions of healthier veggies and fruits and that is what we want to introduce to this program,” Tiffanie Fletcher, application coordinator for the center, stated.
About 200 college students in below-served communities will be able to love the cost-free lessons. Fletcher explained the funding arrives from the federally sponsored Baby and Grownup Care Foods Method.
“It really is a funded program and they reimburse us for all foods that we do for our kids, but a single of the parts in the application procedure is that we need to be teaching and encouraging children make these much healthier selections,” she stated.
For two a long time community facilities throughout the city have presented free foods to children in immediately after-faculty programs. Now at nine neighborhood facilities, meal prep classes will be presented also.
