While there may be a wide selection of celebrities currently touting a new activewear line, Halle Berry is letting it be known that her new capsule with Sweaty Betty is far from a post-pandemic whim.
On Tuesday, the award-winning actress took her longtime love of health and wellness to the next level with the debut of her first fitness clothing line. The well-curated capsule collection draws inspiration from the actress’ training in boxing and Japanese jiu-jitsu, with easy silhouettes that are meant to be worn for a range of workouts. Designed alongside stylist Lindsay Flores, the re-spin Edit features a range of highly-technical styles. Between the fabrication and curve-friendly cuts, it’s clear Berry is hardly new to the athleisure game. Considering the fact that wellness has remained a constant for the last three decades of her life, it makes sense.
“Fitness has always been a big part of my life” the star tells BAZAAR, citing it as one of the things that empowers her the most. “I have a health and wellness plan that I’ve been able to stick to for the last thirty years that has really shaped the quality of my life, how I’m aging, and how I show up for my children and for work.”
This and her love of fashion are among the reasons that Berry gives for deciding to create her own line. The result is a 22-piece collection that’s equal parts chic and practical.
“I tend to look for things that feel good on the body and hug me in all the right places, are breathable and of a certain quality,” she says of incorporating her activewear non-negotiables into the production process. “I love to know that I can wash [something] more than twenty times and it will still be exactly as it was when I bought it. With Sweaty Betty, I have some leggings by them that I’ve had for four years and they’re still exactly the same.”
