Seven tips to fight with Covid – 19
A pandemic has taken over the world, and the health care workers have been urging us to stay indoors and follow particular SOP’s. Most infected people experience symptoms ranging from mild fever to severe body aches to shortness of breath. However, COVID-19 is notably more severe in older people and can be fatal for them. Even when it is clear and known that human contact is causing the spread of this virus. It is hard to maintain the rise in covid-19 cases.
The virus has managed to mutate multiple times, and each time, a more aggressive variant is produced. Despite the vaccine production, at the end of 2020, it is still essential to be cautious.
As many misconceptions about the coronavirus have been circulating the internet since the beginning of the pandemic, I have gathered seven valuable tips that will allow you to have maximum protection against covid-19.
Wash your hands.
Since the virus is spread through human contact, you will need to wash your hands thoroughly for at least 20 seconds and do it quite often by making it a part of your routine. Every time you come from the outdoors, or you have been in public, or after meeting a couple of friends; you will need to wash your hands as it is still one of the best ways to protect yourself against the virus.
Washing your hands will wash away any traces of the virus present on your hands. make sure you carry a small bottle of alcohol-based sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol around with you in case of no water supply availability.
Regular use of mouthwash
Recently it has been discovered that iodine mouthwash aid in protection against covid19. It has been seen that coronavirus is destroyed to an extent when it is exposed to a weak solution of iodine. So, the regular use of mouthwash may be a very cost-effective way of dealing with covid 19. However, it is unsure how long and how much immunity is given by this procedure. But I am my opinion, at least even slight protection is better than nothing!
Eat healthily.
You will need to let go of your sugary diet and sodas and start incorporating healthy foods like citrus fruits and vitamin d sources in your diet instead.
One study showed that vitamin D inhibits the virus activity in the nasal cells. Some evidence even shows that vitamin d helps reduce the severity of covid-19 and gives protection against it. So, it is advised to include additional vitamin d supplements in your diet. Citrus fruits are packed with antioxidants that strengthen the immune system.
Unfortunately, the virus attacks type-1 interferons, which are the principal defense proteins in our body. And since vitamin c is not stored inside the body, daily intake of vitamin c is necessary because a robust immune system is essential to have during this pandemic. Your immune system is responsible for fighting off the virus when it enters your body. If your immune system is robust, your body will put up a great fight against the coronavirus.
Maintain excellent respiratory hygiene.
Maintaining good repository hygiene means that you should cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you are sneezing or coughing. Then you are supposed to dispose of the tissue off immediately and wash your hands for 20 seconds with water and soap. Sneezing or coughing into a tissue is necessary since coronavirus spreads through droplets. And when a person sneezes or coughs, they let out a spray of liquid droplets from their nose and mouth. When you cover yourself while sneezing or coughing, you prevent the spread of the virus (in case if you are infected). If you do not have a tissue, then you may sneeze or cough into your elbow bent.
It is also essential to have a proper ventilation system in your house. This reduces the chances of droplets and air transmission of the virus, as the airflow will carry the infected droplets away from the people inhaling. A proper ventilation system can be started by simply opening your windows wide, switching on the fan, or installing an air filtration system indoors.
Do not consume alcohol or drugs.
Drinking alcohol and taking drugs increases the risk of contracting Covid-19. The WHO stated that consuming alcohol is related to various communicable and non-communicable diseases, making a person more vulnerable to contracting coronavirus. Drinking alcohol may be fun, but it strongly compromises the immune system. If your immune system is robust, you are at a higher risk of severe complications from coronavirus.
In countries with strict 24 hour-long lockdowns, alcohol consumption has increased. This is not in favor of the person, and alcohol can cause mental health issues and cause violent behavior. So, it would be best if you stayed sober during this pandemic. A non-foggy head will allow you to make healthy and correct decisions in case of an emergency. Limit your drinking. In case you are an addict, you can always take help from professionals.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
Coronavirus can stay alive on different surfaces for various times. It can survive on copper for 4 hours, 72 hours for plastic and stainless steel, and up to 24 hours on cardboard. Since we are always touching contaminated surfaces throughout the day, there is a possibility that the virus was present on the surface you touched. Once the virus is on our hands, it can readily enter our body through the eyes, nose, and mouth. This is why we not only need to avoid touching our nose, eyes, and mouth. We also need to wash our hands regularly for 20 seconds with soap and water.
Furthermore, we can prevent the spread of the virus by disinfecting our house. We must regularly disinfect surfaces like our mobile phones, doorknobs, and light switches using a disinfecting cleaning spray or a wipe. Remember to wash your hands after disinfecting!
Wear a fitted mask outdoors
The scientist and health care workers have suggested everyone wear a properly fitted mask every time they step out of their home to avoid inhaling the droplets and be protected from the air transmission of the coronavirus. Mask is an effective way of preventing the virus as they stop cvodi19 from spreading!
The most effective masks are N95 and KN95 masks and the simple three-layer cloth surgical masks. Please keep in mind that cloth masks are of no use, but a little layering them up can make them of some service!
It has been more than a year, and we are still in his pandemic that can be managed to an extent with proper SOPs implementation and awareness. Although scientists have found a vaccine for this never-ending virus, these seven tips will surely assist you in the prevention of spreading and contacting coronavirus!
