Paterson’s Sync Fitness Helping Athletes Be Best Selves Through Bodybuilding

PATERSON, NJ – Paterson’s Sync Fitness, a veteran owned training studio, is celebrating the achievements of four of their athletes that each earned high results over the weekend in the Organization of Competition Bodies (OCB) natural bodybuilding competition. The OCB competition, held in Atlantic City, was the first one to feature live stage performance and an audience since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

Taking their place on the stage wasn’t easy, and getting the results all four athletes did was even more challenging, Naji Mitchel, owner of Sync Fitness said. “It took 12 weeks of prep, hard work, and discipline.”

“I was inspired to get into bodybuilding because I wanted to challenge myself physically and mentally by doing something new”, Malaysia Morrison, 25, and a native of Newburgh, New York said. “This experience turned out to be life-changing for me and I not only gained a new passion, but family”

Morrison finished in 2nd place in novice Class C.

For Stephanie Langlais, 26, working out has always been her therapy. “However bodybuilding gives me the ability to push myself to my limit and become the best version of myself in so many ways,” Langlais with a first place finish in her novice class and 2nd place in open Class C, stated. “Sync health fitness has given me the opportunity to be part of their team/family and I will be forever thankful for them.”

Amber Tenkate, 24, who achieved 1st Place novice and took home the overall novice award, as well as 2st class in her Bikini Class, wants people to understand that “genetics fo not play a role in our wellbeing.”

“It is solely our mindset and movement that determine our health,” Tenkate, who also works as personal trainer at Sync as well as a fitness nutrition specialist said. “Actively living a healthy lifestyle allows us to reach our full potential inside and out.”

For Martha Castillo, 28, the 2nd place finisher in novice Class B as well as in open class, it was the quarantine itself that inspired her to take control of her fitness. “I took a good look at my legs while laying in bed eating chips,” Castillo said. “I messaged Sync Fitness and discovered my love of bodybuilding as time went by and never looked back.”

Mitchel celebrated the wins as monumental for the competitors, each getting on stage for the first time, as well as the gym he owns and manages. “Our ladies went in with an agenda and executed the plan,” he said. “These ladies are an inspiration, each of them has an amazing story and they represented our studio with class and grace.”

Though new to competing themselves, the four athletes, three of whom call Paterson home, went up against a total of 30 women with the support, both moral and physical, of Tiffany Ensmann, assistant coach and an experienced OCB pro that also trains at Sync.“I can’t even begin to explain how proud I am of these girls, they set a goal and achieved it,” Ensmann said. “It’s amazing to see how someone can transform physically but also mentally.”

They represented Sync Fitness proudly by following what we always say ‘Be the Best Version of Yourself, Win or Lose.’”

While Mitchel and the athletes will long savor their victories, they aren’t ready to rest just yet.

We are looking forward to the next competition in the near future,” Mitchel said. “Amongst our coaches and trainers, whether it is bodybuilding or overall weight loss, we are looking to take on the next people who are ready to make this big transformation.”

Sync Fitness is located at 245 Buffalo Avenue in Paterson.
